What is a roof batten
Roof battens are untreated wooden planks that are used as a substrate for roofing and for structural purposes in the construction of roofs and other building structures.
Impregnated vs non-impregnated battens
Impregnated battens: Impregnated roof battens are treated with chemicals that increase their resistance to rot, mould and pests. This prolongs their life and improves their protection against weathering.
Untreated battens: Untreated battens are not treated with any protective substances and therefore have lower resistance to moisture, rot and pests. They are suitable for less demanding applications or where they are not exposed to significant weathering.
