What is Thermowood technology

It is a special technology where the lumber is heat treated in pressure chambers at a temperature of around 210°C.

The thermal modification makes it impossible to absorb air moisture, which makes it significantly different from conventional lumber, which is normally dried in dryers to a moisture content of 12-14%. The whole process is gentle and environmentally friendly without the use of chemicals.

Advantages of ThermoWood pine wooden decking

Long service life (minimum 30 years)

• Due to the high temperatures, all biological substances and resins are destroyed, so nothing is left in the wood that wood-destroying insects would like. This is why the material is sometimes referred to as 'dead wood'.

Dimensional and dimensional stability

• Dried wood absorbs 30-50% less ambient moisture and therefore does not warp or expand. Up to 90% reduction in deflection.

Properties like tropical woods

• After heat treatment, the wood has similar properties to their tropical counterparts without the need to cut down tropical forests and disturb the environment.

No need for surface treatment

• If you don't surface treat ThermoWood, it will be subject to colour changes just as it is with conventional material. The natural brava change - a grey patina - has no effect on the properties of the wood.

As with all woods, werecommend applying a coating, which will significantly extend the life of the material. Always use only water-dilutable pigmented oils with UV protection based on alkyd or acrylic resins to treat ThermoWood. The UV filter will protect the material from colour loss.

We do not recommend: natural and synthetic based oils, as they contain ingredients that have been removed from ThermoWood by complex technologies. Natural oils would re-saturate the material with the excluded components.

Installation of ThermoWood patio planks

Always use only high quality stainless steel screws to avoid unpleasant corrosion that would leave unsightly stains on the wood. Anchor the planks to the subfloor grid with a maximum axial distance of 450 mm using at least two stainless steel screws.

At the edge of the profile, it is recommended to anchor a minimum of 70mm from the face and 20mm from the edge. An expansion gap of at least 6mm must be left in the edges of the perimeter walls and a minimum of 4mm between profiles - longitudinally and transversely.
