Care of terrace boards
To keep your patio boards beautiful and durable, it is recommended to treat the wood twice a year, in spring and autumn. Read on for 3 simple tips for proper patio maintenance.
TIP: Use a good quality wood oil or varnish designed for outdoor use.
Grey patina
The high density of the wood and the higher proportion of prissy larch make it an ideal material for patios that will last even in harsh conditions.
Siberian larch can be left unmaintained, but you must take into account that over time a grey patina will develop on the surface of the patio boards. Colour changes, grey patina, cracks, twisting, resin, knots and slipperiness when wet are natural and are not a defect.
Terrace boards assembly
It is possible to build a wooden patio on your own, but it is essential not to underestimate the steps of the process.
The wooden grid is the key to the patio.
- Use a material that matches the patio planks.
TIP: Don't know which timbers to use for your terrace? Choose subfloor prisms made from the same wood species as the patio or with a similar density. This will ensure that the wood swells and shrinks evenly due to the surrounding climate.
Place the grating on targets or adjustable feet.
- Never place it in dirt or concrete, use targets for air circulation.
Installation of patio planks.
- Installation can be done by screwing or hidden anchoring (screws are not visible).
- Use good quality patio screws and observe the correct gap between the planks (at least 6mm).
